Why is the US healthcare system so ridiculously expensive and inefficient?  I'm on a medicine that costs roughly $20,000  a dose.  That same medicine in the UK is sold for about $4,400.  It's literally cheaper for me to fly to Heathrow buy my meds out of pocket and fly home than it would be for me to buy them down the street.  Private insurance allows medical costs to raise out of control and then uses those same high prices to deny people coverage.

Meanwhile my company has decided to switch insurance from Blue Cross to United.  Yes, the United who's CEO was just killed because of how often they reject claims.  The United that statistically denies more claims than any other health insurance in the country.

After ages spent getting my medicine through the ridiculous "pre-approval process" of my last insurance company (because god forbid we let actual doctors make medical decisions instead of bean counters) I now get to take that process that took me two months and get it done AGAIN before January 1st to not not have a gap in my treatment.  Meanwhile United can't tell me what I need to do and insists my doctor call them so they can tell him what I need to do and then relay that information to me. In the end they may still deny me because fuck consistency of coverage.

Fuck for profit healthcare.

On top of it all I cant even get a clear answer from anyone on what if any of my GAHT is covered and since I'm not out at work I get no help from that side either.

Merry Christmas and Happy frikkin' new year. >:(
